Shadows of war


I still don't know how many leagues I'll have to walk
To find my peace
I still don't know how many bombs will have to explode in the skies
And how many bodies will have to be under the feet of this war
So that I can find this peace in my heart
I wanted to believe that everything will be better tomorrow

Maybe a white dove flies off the coast
And bring good news in your wings
Saying that I can come home

Everyday I have this same dream
I wish all the mountains of this world
Become ships
So that everyone was protected
Until the sea took us to a safe place
A place where hope could be reborn
Along with the flowers of this world

I wanted to go home and see my parents smile
I would hug my brothers and my sisters
In an endless hug
I would say to my children
That I'll never leave again
I would kiss my wife
With the certainty that I would never leave your arms

How many wars have yet to happen
So we can find peace?
If love is like the sky that covers this world
So why can't this love be in all hearts?
What our children will plant tomorrow
If the hope we have today is still in the arms of these wars?
How many innocent people will still have to die unjustly
So that we can understand that we are all children of this earth?

I know this is just words or dreams of a tired soldier
Who hopes to find a shelter in distant hearts
To escape this war
But I also know that God is merciful
One day peace will return and this will not just be a dream
